Chuan-Shin joined Agilent in 2000 and has worked in various positions in Technical Support, Technical Marketing and Product Marketing.
He is currently the Worldwide Product Manager for Agilent’s WireScope Pro Cable and Network Tester as well as the OTDR products. Chuan-Shin graduated from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, UK with a Bachelor of Engineering in Communication and Control Engineering. He is currently completing his dissertation for his Master of Business Administration at the Manchester Business School.
1， 2008年即将过去，贵公司在市场等各个方面的收获如何？
2008年对安捷伦而言是硕果累累的一年。08年三月份，我们在线缆测试仪WireScope Pro上发布了专业的网络测试功能。该功能使WireScope Pr这款线缆测试仪表具备了基本的网络验证功能，如Ping，TraceRoute，统计查看等。08年11月，我们又发布了新版本的软件，提供了VoIP的测试功能以及对网络进行压力测试的流量产生工具，该工具能够向千兆网络发送线速流量(1000Mb/s)。
The year 2008 is a very fruitful year for Agilent. In the March this year, we introduced the Professional Network Test feature on the WireScope Pro. This allows the same WireScope Pro, which was a cable tester to have the capability to perform basic network verifications, such as Ping, TraceRoute, Statistics View, etc. In November 2008, we will release a software version that provides capabilities to test Voice-over IP networks. A second feature, Traffic Generator allows network technicians to perform stress tests on their network up to full line rate of 1000Mb/s.
2， 如果展望未来，比如2009年，市场会发生怎样的变化和趋势
当前市场有一个明显的趋势，就是通过集成测试来节省时间和资源。我们正迈向一个综合布线和测试的“绿色环境”。WireScope Pro具有在单台仪表上同时测试物理层以及2-7层的能力，既节省了投资，也缩小了功耗。要知道，以前的测试需要多台仪表，从而要配置更多电池和电源适配器，从功耗和运输所需的能耗上都造成了资源的浪费。
There is a strong trend to go towards integrated testing to save time and resources. We are going towards a GREEN Environment in cabling and testing. WireScope Pro has the capabilities to test both physical layers and also the higher layers of the network on a single hardware. This reduces waste and power consumption. The more equipment you bring, the more battery and power adapter you require. This also means heavier your vehicle will be, that directly means consumption of more fuel and energy。

We want the market to know that Agilent has innovative products that covers the users’ current and future needs. We always ready to work hand-in-hand with different parts of the industry to build better products for everyone. We have been working with International Standards bodies, Cable Manufacturers, End users as well as Educational Institutions.
4， 如何看待光进铜退等新趋势？如何应对这类新技术、新趋势的挑战？
在很多发达国家，光纤到户(FTTH)已经是广为人知的发展潮流了。我们相信，光纤在综合布线的市场分额也会逐渐增加。无论如何，铜缆行业需要清晰的理解来自光纤系统的挑战。而安捷伦在这方面已经做好了充足的准备。作为光通信和光器件测试的领导者，我们具有丰富的技术和经验来满足光纤和铜缆市场的需求。
Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) is already a known trend in many developed countries. We believe this will eventually increase its share in the cabling world. Nevertheless, the challenges of fiber deployment need to be clearly understood by the copper world. Agilent is ready to help. Agilent is a leader in Fiber Optic and Photonic Testing. This is not new to us. We have the technology and knowledge to work with the demand of both Fiber and Copper.
